Journalism Internships and Fellowships
Journalism isn’t something you master by studying—it’s something you learn by doing. Our CN Internship and Fellowship Programs are built for students looking to gain valuable hands-on experience in real newsrooms at leading media organizations shaping the national conversation.
Internships
Our 10-week paid summer internship is designed for current undergraduate college students, beginning in May or June and concluding in late July or August, depending on start date. Students are responsible for their own living and transportation arrangements.
Students seriously considering a career in journalism are invited to apply for a placement at one of the following publications:
If selected, CN staff will determine which media placement best fits each student’s interests, skills, and career goals.
To apply, students will need to provide a resume, cover letter, transcript, two references, and two to three work samples.
Applications are closed on February 1, 2026 and will reopen in Fall 2026.
Fellowships
The CN Fellowship is a year-long, full-time program offering a $75,000 stipend and placement at some of the nation’s leading media organizations. Designed for recent graduates, the fellowship provides the kind of hands-on, apprenticeship-style experience that defines a successful career in journalism.
Three fellows are placed with outlets such as USA Today, Fox News and the Michael Knowles Show at the Daily Wire, where they gain real newsroom experience in editing, production, reporting, and media operations.
Fellowship start date is flexible, with most fellowships beginning in the late spring/summer.
To apply, students will need resume, cover letter, transcript, two references, and two to three work samples.
Applications are closed on February 1, 2026 and will reopen in Fall 2026.
