‘No Kings’ Protest in Kansas

Protestors marched to the streets on Saturday for the third nationwide “No Kings” protest since President Trump’s return to the White House last year. “No Kings” organizers praised Saturday as the “largest single-day nonviolent protest in modern American history,” as millions of people gathered at over 3,000 events across the United States and in over a dozen countries to remind the government that power resides with the people.

In order to gain a better understanding of how these protests were being conducted throughout the state, The Free State Journal sent out contributors Nick Young (Topeka) and Blake Fenton (Lawrence) to cover the demonstrations.

The ‘No Kings’ protest at the state capital was larger than I anticipated. When I arrived, I saw that the majority of the people were gathered outside the Statehouse, standing shoulder to shoulder and carrying signs that expressed their frustrations with the current state of politics.
